The Role of Peer Support Services in Recovery
PLEASE NOTE: For any inquiries or interest in this event, please contact Texas Health and Human Services directly.
Peer Support is the process of providing encouragement or assistance to help someone overcome life challenges, and it is facilitated by individuals with lived experience. Peer workers may include those who have faced similar challenges themselves or family members of individuals who have gone through these experiences. Peers offer emotional support, share knowledge, teach skills, provide practical assistance, and connect people with resources, opportunities, and supportive communities.
In this webinar, speakers from the Texas Health and Human Services will discuss the role of Peer Support Services in recovery, both during and after hospitalization, and how it increases success in community life. Speakers will present peer-directed techniques and community resources available for both mental health and substance abuse.
Speakers include:
Liz Castaneda, MHPS, LMSW - Senior Advisor, Texas HHS Peer Support Planning and Policy
Noah Abdenour - Director, Texas HHS Peer Services
