New Resource Helps Individuals Re-Entering Community Navigate Health Coverage and Health Services
The Office of Justice Programs and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health have collaborated to provide a new resource called "Returning to the Community: Health Care After Incarceration." The purpose of this resource is to support individuals re-entering the community to navigate health coverage and health services.
The resource is tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals who are incarcerated, soon to be released, or recently released. It addresses their unique concerns, considerations, and needs, and helps them better understand their healthcare needs.
Through this resource, individuals can learn essential information, terms, people, and titles that can help them connect with healthcare services before and after their release. They can also learn about insurance coverage types and how to apply, and receive tips on how to use their health coverage to receive necessary services to support a successful re-entry and healthy life.
You can access this resource within the Reentry section on our Links page.
