Smith County Commissioners Approve $4 Million To Pay for Behavioral Health Hospital

The Smith County Commissioners Court recently approved allocating $4 million in ARPA funding to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler to assist in paying for a behavioral health hospital. The facility will work to expand the opportunities for inpatient and outpatient programs for mental health crisis care for Smith County patients.
The approved funding is part of a beneficiary agreement that will provide funding to remodel the 7-bed Behavioral Health Center located adjacent to the UT Tyler campus.
