New Website Launch: Texas Behavioral Health and Justice TA Center

The Office of Forensic Coordination at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is proud to announce the launch of the new Texas Behavioral Health and Justice Technical Assistance Resource Center website!

The website offers free technical assistance, resources, and learning initiatives to support Texas communities. It also serves to showcase innovative diversion programs across the state.

The TA Center serves has a resources and services for individuals, organizations, and professionals working in behavioral health and justice, including:

  • Free technical assistance through provision of state and national best practice resources, content-specific learning initiatives, and connections to peers across Texas working on similar initiatives.
  • Free Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) mapping workshops and tailored trainings to identify and prioritize strategies for diverting people with mental illness, substance use disorder and or intellectual and developmental disabilities away from the justice system into appropriate treatment.
  • A catalog of innovative Texas programs and Sequential Intercept Mapping (SIM) reports highlighting county and community results to divert appropriate individuals from justice involvement into appropriate treatment.
  • Behavioral health and justice-related news, events, downloads, and links.

“The Behavioral Health and Justice Technical Assistance Center will bring together and leverage important work to reduce and prevent justice involvement for people with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Dr. Jennie Simpson, Associate Commissioner, Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
