Travis County and the University of Texas at Austin Collaborate on Opioid Overdose Dashboard

May 8, 2024

Travis County has recently approved an agreement with the University of Texas at Austin to access real-time data on drug overdoses within the county.

This agreement is focused on the usage of the Texans Connecting Overdose Prevention Efforts (TxCOPE) platform, a dataset that monitors overdose incidents, as well as the distribution and supply levels of naloxone within the county. The main purpose of this collaboration is to assist county leaders in better tailoring their response and treatment efforts with the dataset and trends in mind.

The data collected is anonymous and confidential and doesn’t contain any identifying information. The data is available online and through a mobile app. Currently, anyone in the state can anonymously report an overdose incident to the database.
